[It's okay, every time she has something new he'll get another one too. Some with a new pet too, to be honest.]

It's a little weird, especially when they want to keep samples for the library.
Maybe it doesn't develop well here. Too cold. I'll try to draw it.
[She'd ask, but she doesn't want to make them angry over something like that at the moment--just in case. She gets why neither of them can go into detail other than dumb guesses like that though. She's used to older cameras, so it makes sense to her.
Still, he'll get a half hearted drawing attached of her trying to do this. She tried... truly.]
See, that's much better. You're getting the hang of it.
[It is more detailed. And by return, she'll get a really poor picture of his worm-thing. He's used all the settings, and what looks like all the brushes, too. It looks like a wobbly sock, with sticks for legs and its bit of a tail, and big uneven ears.
I was going to name it after the snow here, but now I've changed my mind.
[That is, he'd meant to name it for Yuki, who'd once given him a lengthy diatribe about how his name meant snow except actually it meant happy, which Simon has never forgotten for all that he didn't understand a word. But no, not now.]

He almost smiles, though, at the awkward little drawing—which, yes, means he almost cries as well.]
It's beautiful, Babydoll. You know you can tap on the paintbrush to get narrower lines, right?

But she's trying to make it easier on him. Trying.]
I didn't realise. Like this?
[He'll find another drawing attached, this time a bit more detailed.]

I wish you were here, he wants to send. But no.]

[It's cute... more so because he isn't great at drawing either.]
I'll come visit you both when I get back. What does it like to eat?
no subject
It is the egg thing. It's growing fast. Still not a cat.
[And since what happened, it's behaving so much better that even Simon has noticed.]

How long will it take?
[Makes sense, somehow...]

I think I like it. [It's started to lie between him and the outside of his bunk, at night. Its scales are small and dry, and it's very warm.]

Pets are good for when no one else is there. Did you name it?

[Sadly she doesn't know, so the message seems short and blunt. Straight to the point.]

I don't want to be reminded of this place.
Names are difficult. I'm sure she knows what she's called.

It's a girl?

I'll see you when you get back, Babydoll.

I'll visit once I'm back, okay?
[Don't freak out at the state of her bike.......]
